Go Out
(A Father's Advice to his Son)

You must go out amongst them.
Only in the world of men may you find
Answers to some questions you ask yourself.

Look each one you meet in the eye, without malice.
Deal honestly with all, yet be cautious in your trust.
Despise no man; you know not who brings the vital clue.
Seek not to impose your will, nor allow another set his on you.

Many will you find who come to you as you to them.
These call you friend, and enjoy their company.
Some come in the night to harm your son or you.
For them your arm be strong and your aim be true.
