Birthright

Distrust you now all Authority,
From safe womb no one chose to be
Expelled with force, and forced to breathe,
Without so much as, "By your Leave!"

No due process did you get.
When bathed were you 'til soaking wet.
Then were wrapped up in swaddling clothes
And some cold stranger suctioned your nose.

No choices were you given for a name.
To a nursery were taken, and there remain.
