You Don't Know Dick

I said to my children one night:

Don't even get to thinking that the World owes you a living.
The World doesn't owe you dick, shit.
What you get from this life is what you take from it with your own hands.

What I neglected to tell them is that you can take from this life whatever you would have. That is why heaven and hell are right here around you, not in some mythical after world. The trick is to figure out what is worth taking, and then go after it with purpose and commitment. No one can tell you what it is or how to get it.

William's Whimsical Words:

The life well lived is one in which you have seen your star and reached for it.
