[1954 - US Supreme Court decides Brown v. Board of Education ]

Fundamentally Wrong

James needs his medical marijuana,
To ease effects of chemo in his body.
More effective than pills to fight the nausea,
Less destructive to him than another toddy.

An Attorney General comes to say,
In his silly, self-righteous way,
Taking unapproved drugs is naught but sinning.
But, you can have a beer and find a new beginning.

The Oregonians twice have voted,
In favor of Death with Dignity.
The Attorney General then emoted,
I know what's best for thee and me.

States Rights is like religion he saith,
When it leads to results that I believe in.
But when it contradicts my personal faith,
Why, then it's unworthy of consideration.

John Ashcroft
