Keep Out

No Entry

It was reported that the number of foreign student applicants for US colleges and universities fell off sharply following the 9-11 tragedy and our hysterical overreaction to it. The best and the brightest youth of the world are going elsewhere for education because of the perceived xenophobia of our country, and the hassles and roadblocks that we have erected in the name of Homeland Security (fall to your knees).

Many of the students who in years past came here for an education stayed on to enrich us with their genius and their skills. Now that they are staying away in droves, it will be hard to replace them. In terms of the long term effects of 9-11 on the US economy and national security, this ‘brain drain' may prove the most effective blow to the position of America in the world of nations that Osama Bin Laden could have delivered. The tragic fact is that the terrorists and extremists are not responsible for this one; we are doing it to ourselves.
